Handbuilding

Our Handbuilding Class invites beginners and experienced ceramicists alike to dive into claywork while fostering a sense of community. Beginners will start with the fundamentals, using hands and simple tools to master coil building, slab construction, pinching, and extrusion techniques. You’ll also explore surface decoration methods such as applied textures, sgraffito, and glaze application, all while working on individual projects with guidance from our instructor.

More experienced ceramicists will advance their skills, creating complex functional and sculptural forms while refining handbuilding techniques and decorative options. Each class includes a review and critique of fired results, fostering the development of a personal style.
