Thursday, July 25 Clay Bookmaking Exhibit and Open Mic Book Reading 5-8 pm

Perhaps you would like to replicate your favorite novel with a reimagined, intricately carved cover or bring to life a book from a fairytale—during this three session workshop you will learn various handbuilding techniques to construct a sculptural book made entirely out of clay. Whether you are a beginner or experienced ceramicist, this workshop invites all ages to explore yet another fascinating possibility with clay and to push the conventional boundaries of what this miraculous material is capable of!

The first two sessions of the workshop, Thursday July 11th 7-9 pm and Saturday July 13th 10-12 pm, will be dedicated to instruction and making the book and the third session, Saturday July 20th 10-12 pm, will be glazing the bisqued pieces.

The finished books will be a part of a show at the end of the workshop held in Mudluk’s gallery space. The reception for the show will be July 25th from 5-8pm and as part of the event an Open Mic Book Reading will be held where those who choose may read a section from a favorite book or poem.
